In the subject of losing weight, one must understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss. When you check your weight on the bathroom scale and notice an increase or decrease in pounds, I bet my life that you immediately contribute the change of weight to losing fats. Such is not the case. An increase or decrease in weight does not necessarily mean that you are losing fat. If you are overweight and trying to lose weight for health related concerns, what you would want is to lose fat or the excess that is.
Our body weight is actually made up of several factors. Of course, fat is part of it but other factors such as your bones, muscles and organs take part as well. When you have been exercising to lose weight but notice an increase in weight, do not fret. It does not immediately mean that all your hard work is not resulting to any fat loss and that you are getting fatter instead. The increase in weight may come from your muscle buildup. If you are trying to lose fat per se, it also won’t do you any good if you frequent your sauna baths or wear your body suits 24/7. The decrease in weight that this brings is in reality just coming from the fluids in your body which you expel in the form of perspiration.
It is better for us to understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss if you plan to live a better life health wise. Fat is necessary for our bodies. It is stored in our bodies and is then converted into energy. Ergo, we need fat. Too much of it thereof is when it becomes bad. If you want to lose fat, you have two options. You can either lessen your food intake or increase your physical activities. However, it is advisable to combine dieting and exercising together. Chances are, if you choose to just cut back on food intake alone, you might be doing your body a big injustice. The same goes to exercising alone without dieting. This would just result in a wild goose chase. Balancing everything would eventually fare better results than expected.
