Acupuncture is a therapy that uses thin needles by inserting it into different parts of the body through body points or acupuncture points. It was discovered centuries ago which originated in China and is now used in different countries as part of alternative medicine. The manipulation of the needles can be either through the hands or through the use of an electrical stimulation. There are only a few complications that have been reported about this alternative medicine. The acupuncture techniques should be done properly by an acupuncturist who had been extensively trained about body points.
The benefits of acupuncture include the reduction of pain. A research stated that when acupuncture techniques are done, the body releases “opioids” which are psychoactive chemicals that are found in the central nervous system. Opioids reduce the pain sensation. Studies have shown that this alternative medicine affects the central nervous system when it comes to the person’s blood circulation, temperature, and blood pressure. Some of the conditions that are treated by the use of acupuncture are lower back pains, sciatica, cervical pain, shoulder pain, arthritic pain, jaw and face pains, bladder condition, chronic fatigue syndrome, menstrual problems, sports injuries and stroke rehabilitation. If performed by a licensed practitioner, there will no harmful side effects thus resulting to a safe and effective healing process.
Relaxation and a sense of well- being are felt while doing acupuncture therapy or even after the treatment which is a healthy effect for the mind and body. When a person undergoes treatment, not only one condition is treated using acupuncture techniques but some of the unknown conditions by the person may also be relieved. There are doctors who are also licensed to do the therapy so if you want to make sure that you will be in safe hands, check their credentials. The sensation felt by the person is not the same as injections but just a mild sensation.
Expect a tingling sensation and some electrical pulses on distal areas from the thin needles. But not all conditions can be treated with acupuncture so it is much better to seek a medical doctor first before undergoing this kind of treatment. If you have already undergone the treatment for quite some time and your condition does not improve then go see your doctor. Open you mind that not all health conditions are best treated with alternative medicine.
